Youth BOB And Youth BOS Judge Knut Olav Wille
(O’Marksbay prefix, Norway)

Knut Olav Wille (O’Marksbay prefix, Norway)I was born in 1962 and became the proud owner of my first Irish Wolfhound in March 1979.

The breed was totally unfamiliar to me until, as a 14 year old, I was allowed to do a daily walk with a magnificent Irish Wolfhound male. When this dog sired a litter, his owner, Ingun Hinna (kennel McKenzie) and her then husband, offered me their pick of the litter as a gift. This is how Totenulv’s Alexandra came into my life just after my 16th birthday. Even though she was not a star, I felt privileged living with her for nearly seven years.

Before the age of twenty, I had already three Irish Wolfhounds, and I have through the years been true to this breed only. I have always had several dogs, and today we have six dogs living with us in the house.

My own breeding has not been for quantity. In all my litters but one I have kept a puppy for my future breeding.  In 2004 my partner Øivind Berg Larsen joined me as a co-owner of Kennel O’Marksbay, and we have thus far bred three litters together.

I became a judge in December 2005 and as the only Norwegian breeder-judge I hope that more will follow. So far I have judged Specialty Shows in Finland, the Czech Republic, France, Belgium and Ireland. It is such an honour to be invited to EIWC in Denmark, and I very much look forward to judge at your Show in June!

Bitches Judge — Outi Piisi-Putta
(Beatus prefix, Finland)

Knut Olav Wille (O’Marksbay prefix, Norway)My name is Outi Piisi-Putta, a Finnish breeder who has dogs and breeding more or less in genes. My grandfather (mother’s father) was the second breeder of the Karelian Bear Dog and belonged to them who created this domestic breed. My parent’s breed was the German Pointer, and we have had at home always one or two dogs. They were hunting ones but at the same time also family members. My breed is – surprise, surprise – Irish Wolfhound, and I have to thank my husband Timo for the excellent choice of the breed.

I’ve been involved in the breed since 1987. The first litter was born 1994. We have bred very occasionally, partly because of a very dense sieve, partly because of a bad luck. There are three Wolfhounds in our little pack at the moment; two home bred and even the third one is out of our own line. We have bred one WW-Wolfhound, one Runner Up at the WW-Show, three Nordic Winners – some to mention.

I have had the CAC license for this breed since 2002, and after that I have judged in the US, in Russia and in quite many other countries between these two. To stand in the middle of the ring is at the same time both fascinating and a big challenge, always. To receive the invitation to the EIWC show is a big honor and makes one humble.

I’m looking forward to the next summer, Denmark and the EIWC 2010. See you there!

Males and BOB Judge — Jean McDonald-Ulliott
(Hibeck prefix, UK)

I fell in love with our wonderful breed 34 years ago, after a couple of years I got the showing bug and the rest is history.

I cannot really call myself a kennel as 7 is the most I have had at one time, although at this moment I have 3 Wolfhounds , 7 Basset Fauves and I have just bought the only Griffon Fauve in the UK, another French hunting hound. I have these dogs because I love them and enjoy their company.

I have bred in a small way, always keeping something for myself, for me Temperament is the first priority you have to live with these dogs, and they in turn have to get on with the rest of the pack! Then health follows very closely behind, the showing is a very small part of owning these dogs in my opinion. Of course we all want to own and breed winners, but remember we always take the best dogs home.

I judged our breed at Championship level in 1989. As well as judging here in the u.k. I have been fortunate in judging in many countries in Europe, have done a speciality show in the States and met some interesting people on the way, also been lucky to have seen some great dogs.

I am also the chairman of the Russian Black Terrier Club and judge both these and the Basset Fauves at Championship level.

Owning this great breed is never without its heartache, as we all know. I have owned some superb stock, I had a beautiful female on two CC and several reserve CC, she was in her prime, another lovely up and coming Junior bitch, another great lady lost only weeks after her first litter, I had high hopes for these 3 girls, but alas not to be they were taken from me far to early in their precious lives.

Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to judge at this prestige's event, and I look forward to meeting you and your hounds on the day.
